Industrial Burner Maintenance

Industrial Burner Maintenance Checklist

A structured maintenance routine helps identify developing burner faults before they become unplanned production problems.

1. Inspect the burner assembly

Check the burner head, housing, combustion components, wiring, connections and visible signs of contamination, overheating, wear or damage.

2. Check the fuel system

Inspect relevant filters, valves, regulators, pressure switches, pipework and connections. For oil-fired equipment, inspect the pump, nozzle and associated fuel components as applicable.

3. Check ignition and flame supervision

Inspect ignition components and flame detection equipment. Confirm that the burner completes its expected start sequence and that safety controls respond correctly.

4. Check combustion air

Inspect the fan, damper, air path and associated controls. Restricted or unstable combustion air can affect burner performance and flame stability.

5. Verify combustion

Where appropriate, combustion should be checked using suitable instruments and the results assessed against the equipment manufacturer's requirements and operating conditions.

6. Record findings

Record faults, measurements, replaced components and recommended follow-up work. A maintenance history makes recurring problems easier to identify.

When should maintenance be performed?

The correct interval depends on burner type, fuel, operating hours, process requirements and manufacturer recommendations. High-duty industrial equipment may require more frequent inspection than lightly used equipment.
